Question of the Week
Cat Cora, the Iron Chef and Bon Appetit’s representative at Chicago Gourmet over the weekend, is a married lesbian. She and her wife have four kids. In what can only be considered remarkable efficiency, the last two were born three months apart, with each woman carrying the other’ embryo and having one baby apiece.
Here is my question: Are those kids Irish twins?

Marmolade
The Cubs were so bad this year that I completely missed that the great Carlos Marmol is finishing up a historically good year, at least in terms of his strikeouts.
Joe Posnanski, the best baseball writer alive, reports that:
It’s obscene, really. Marmol has struck out 133 batters in just 74 2/3 innings this year. That’s 16 K’s per nine innings. Nobody in baseball history has ever been within a strikeout of that
The whole article is worth reading.

Chicago Gourmet 2010
My post went up yesterday on Serious Eats about Chicago Gourmet.
In last year’s post, I talked about everything I ate, which was almost every food offering at the event. This year, a couple of Serious Eats editors who were in town from the previous week’s eating tour made me promise not to do as long of a post this year because people like their blog posts shorter. They also said that people don’t want super long slide shows (and they have the click numbers to prove it) so I had to pick my favorites. While my inclination is to write about everything I eat, cutting it down actually made my life a lot easier and made me focus on my favorites.
All that said, I have a whole bunch of food pics that didn’t make the cut. And thanks to the photography skills of Lori and Andrew, a lot of the pictures are pretty sweet. Unlike the ones in the Serious Eats post, these ones have had no photoshop type magic worked on them.
