Blackhawks Win; Lord Stanley is Coming to Chicago
Went to Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals last night. The second period was slow, but the first and third had some very good hockey, and the Blackhawks so thoroughly dominated the Overtime that it was really a question of when, not if they were going to win.
That was decidedly not the case for the bulk of the game. The Sharks outplayed the Blackhawks but Antti Niemi was absolutely magnificent in the goal. It reminded me of the Detroit series in 1995 when the Blackhawks were not nearly as good, but Ed Belfour was playing out of his mind (Hawks still lost in 5 I think, but some of the games were incredible). The crowd noise during and especially after the game was like nothing I’ve ever heard at the United Center. I was feeling some serious Chicago Stadium nostalgia tonight.
Anyhow, the Hawks are now up 3-0. They will win this series and then face either the Canadiens or the Flyers, two decidedly inferior teams. I’d prefer the Canadiens because I like hearing the Canadian National Anthem live.
Sat in the corner of the upper deck tonight, which I think might be the best place to watch hockey, provided you’re in a low enough row.
I broke out my sweet new camera and took some pics:
What’s that you say? You want more than just pictures? Cool. My sweet new camera takes video. Here’s what I filmed starting about 30 seconds after Dustin Byfuglien drove in the game winner:

Nike Ad Good Enough to Make Me Forget About Child Labor
I’m not a big fan of soccer. I’ll occasionally go to a game and if the fans are sufficiently passionate, I’ll have a good time. But it’s just never been a sport I’ve been able to get into.
My lack of passion notwithstanding, Nike just came out with an ad that is stunningly good. It’s so good, I actually think I’m motivated to watch the World Cup this year. Maybe even leave my house to go watch it with some drunk Europeans somewhere.

Operation Stop Being a Fat Fuck Stalls
So after gaining weight last week, I thought I was inspired to get back on the program this week. But with only two 3-mile runs to my name, there wasn’t a whole lot of exercising going on. I did do 30 sit ups one morning, but I don’t think that counts for much either.
I need to do better this week because next Tuesday-Thursday, I will be attending the Sweets & Snacks Expo, formerly known as the Candy Expo. It will be awesome. I will gain weight.
Starting weight: 215
Last week: 210
This week: 210
Goal (maximum): 205
Goal (ideal): 195
